Week 8

The one where she didn't want to leave

0
My last week in Prague had me wishing I was staying here longer. This city is really so incredible- I could easily see myself living here long-term. Having an office here was also a giant win- as much as I enjoy being around people with such a diverse group of careers, it surprised me how much I enjoyed going into an office where all of the conversations around me were 100% about things I work on every day. Although I’m sad to have to leave Prague I am really excited for what Lisbon has to offer- I’ve only heard good things and can’t wait to be close to the beach again. #waterbaby

What I did this week:

  • Discovered that European washing machines have some really stupid settings. WHY would one ever want to wash their clothes but not spin the excess water out? I just don’t get it.

Positive side- I now have bangin’ biceps from wringing out all of my clothes.

  • Had another acro session with DDR and Jess on Tuesday night in the backyard of K10. The setting was perfect, the weather was perfect and I got a ton of work done at the same time.
  • Went looking for something to wear for our 80’s Prom going away party and ended up finding the coolest little thrift store near the creepy baby tower. The owners were a couple that have been in Prague for almost 30 years but are originally from the US and the UK. Absolutely *~fabulous~* couple that you could just tell are full of crazy stories- the wife was actually late to meet us because she ran into the singer from Depeche Mode in some hotel. #casual

Found this literally five minutes away from our workspace on my search for an 80’s outfit

Apparently they grow grapes (?) ten minutes away from our workspace

Pastel EVERYTHING

  • Made it over to K10 for our last Town Hall of the month. We talked about some of the things that were going well (supporting each other, the family feel of the group, being respectful of our neighbors and surroundings), brainstormed some ideas for things that weren’t going as well as planned (attendance at track events this month) and got hyped up for Lisbon.
  • Had a big program launch on Thursday so I holed myself up in K10 in hopes I could get everything done in time to join the group at our 9PM reservation AnonymouS, a really cool cocktail bar. Unfortunately the work firehose got turned on and I found myself drinking from it until about 1:30AM when I finally shut my computer and walked home (to then answer more emails from bed) #remotelife #worthit.
  • Got dressed up to get down at our Prague going away party. Theme: 80s prom. Venue: Classic old theatre. Vibe: We are the World. We had a great time dancing like no one was watching…for my sake I pray they weren’t.

I think we pulled it off pretty well

  • Spent my last work day in Prague in my company’s office to say goodbye to everyone. Turns out that there was another New Yorker in town for the weekend and being native New Yorkers we of course went into the routine of figuring out how we know each other (there’s ALWAYS a connection). Found it through her little brother who went to my high school and was in a class lower than me…and dated my bff for a hot second. #typicalnewyork

There’s a vertical garden in our office building!

  • Entertained some locals on Saturday morning when filming our Prague acro video, seen below for your viewing pleasure. We realllly slacked this month, so forgive it for not being more than it is.
  • Packed all of my stuff up again after acro on Saturday because it was TRAVEL DAY! (Always one of my favorite days.) Definitely had to get creative with the weight limits, but after some shuffling around everything fit and was under weight #winning 😃

The gang’s all here!

  • Made it to Lisboa safe and sound and moved into my new apartment before going out to explore TimeOut market and Pink St. My apartment has the most GORGEOUS view but jeeeeebus do you have to work for it. It’s up a giant set of stairs and then is on the fourth floor of our building. I’m going to have a VERY toned booty by the end of this month.

My favorite.

  • Got lost coming home my first night because my Uber dropped me off in a spot that was DEFINITELY not my street which resulted in a decent amount of concern and a lot of wandering, but all’s well that ends well and I made it home safe and sound (albeit an hour later).
  • Rewarded myself on Sunday with doing absolutely nothing but watching five episodes of Kimmy Schmidt from my couch. In pajamas. (It’s funny how doing nothing seems like a reward or accomplishment on Remote Year because you’re always doing something, somewhere, with some decent amount of people.)

Prague MVPs-

  • My roommate Rachel for inspiring me to start cooking. She cooked delicious healthy vegan food every day (and always let me have a serving or two)… which lead to my realization that I can do that too. She also gifted me with wonderful breakfast conversations- another morning person!! ~(˘▾˘~) and more compliments and wonderful ideas than I probably deserve. I’m really going to miss having her as roommate.
  • Cafe If for the XL Macarons that made me fat, but I will forever dream about.
  • The Prague Metro for being the best, cleanest and most efficient metro system I’ve ever used.
  • Eggs for being the most versatile food and the best breakfast. I increased my egg cooking skills at least a thousandfold this month and can now perfectly make over easy, sunny side up, fried, scrambled, poached and omelettes. Next up are soufflé omelettes. Come at me bro. (For breakfast at least. 😃)

Songs of the month-

This month I was really into light country music for some reason and basically played the following five songs on repeat. (Sorry roomies! 😬)
  • Woke Up in Nashville- Seth Ennis
  • Ring on Every Finger-Brothers Osborne
  • My Girl- Dylan Scott
  • Thunder in the Rain- Kane Brown
  • What Ifs- Kane Brown
